Mendip Conservatries
Rated 5 star by our customers for conservatories, glazed extensions, orangeries, windows and bi-folds. We are now able to quote for new projects. This may be done either via email with photos or with a home visit with social distancing. Our industry has seen an unprecedented demand post lockdown, causing longer lead times on product etc, but we are able to design and give advice within our normal timescales.

For existing customers we are monitoring the manufacturing by our suppliers and chasing updates on when we can obtain product that is currently in manufacture. The post lockdown era has created a few challenges with lead times, availability of product, and in some cases supply chains going into administration. This affects our whole industry and does not differentiate our service potential detrimentally when compared to anyone else.

We will keep you posted with updates as we receive them. Meanwhile, we wish all of our customers a safe and healthy period while this difficult time continues.

As conservatory and orangery specialists, we are more experienced in the field than the average double glazing company.
Mendip Conservatories is a specialist conservatory, orangery and glazed extension installation company serving Bristol, Somerset and the surrounds.
We can create a new bespoke extension to your home, whatever your personal preference or budget.
We can also refurbish existing conservatories transforming old, tired buildings with energy efficient new frames and roofs, utilising existing bases.
Practical yet attractive, our conservatories are available in a range of classic styles: Victorian, Gable End, Lean-to, Edwardian, P-shaped, L-shaped, Wrap Around, and many more including free standing or pool enclosures.
An orangery is a luxurious alternative to a conservatory or glazed extension.
With stunning architectural detailing options, and light, airy interiors, an orangery is a perfect addition to your home.
The difference between an orangery and a conservatory in simple terms is that an orangery is a building with a glazed lantern which does not cover the whole of the roof it sits on, and is installed on a flat roof.
A conservatory roof spans the whole structure, although there are many "mock" orangery systems available today which create an orangery look using an internal pelmet to hide the roof ends, and external cornices to conceal guttering.
Increasingly in today's market, consumers are seeking a solid, or a partially solid conservatory roof.
This is either to replace a tired conservatory, or build from scratch, a new structure.
Many are seeing this as a viable alternative to an extension built by a builder because of the range or products available.
The benefits of buying from an experienced local company with a great reputation are many.
These include fixed price work, project management and a one stop shop.
Some simply want to update their existing conservatory where they may have experienced their conservatory being too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.
At Mendip Conservatories we have listed the most common conservatories and glazed extensions FAQs with our advice.
We come across many consumers who have been ill advised and who literally pay the price when they come to try and sell their property.
This depends on a number of factors.
Building regulations approval is required for all "extensions" to a property.
However, in some instances the extension or conservatory may be exempt from this requirement.
The conditions required to be exempt are generally that there is an external quality barrier between the house and the extension, that the extension has independent (to the main house) or no heating, that any electrics installed are certificated by a qualified electrician, and that the glazed extension is mostly glazed.
