Services
One Step Joinery specialises in the manufacture and installation of purpose-made woodwork, specifically staircases, doors and windows, although as you might expect, all types of joinery can be undertaken.
The business typically serves customers in Swindon, Marlborough, Hungerford, Cirencester, Lechlade, Cricklade and the Southern Cotswolds.
One Step Joinery is a longstanding partnership between Mark Foster, a highly skilled craftsman, and Graham Crawshaw, who adds commercial support and expertise as a purchasing specialist.
We have sufficient space for four qualified joiners, one of whom is the workshop manager, all of whom are supported by an apprentice.
As a past 'Apprentice of the Year' himself, Mark has always recognised the importance of training and development.
One Step Joinery has always engaged an apprentice, encouraging them to work their way through the three-year training programme which includes spending time at Swindon College.
The workshop apprentice gains valuable skills in all aspects of workshop best practice, from Health & Safety, to the safe use of sophisticated machinery.
One Step Joinery has expert knowledge in the design and manufacture of all types of staircase, whether you're looking to replace your existing staircase, considering the installation of a new flight, or repositioning your current staircase.
As a founder member of the British Woodworking Federation's Staircase Scheme, our knowledge of current staircase regulations can help with issues around design, layout and construction.
We also have thirty years of expertise in the design and manufacture of staircases; this means we can build your staircase from plans that your builder or architect has developed just as easily as working from a rough sketch.
The planning of a staircase requires expert knowledge of what can be achieved, and also of the legislation supporting this.
Before planning in too much detail, why not give us a call so that we visit and advise you, and we'll also provide a free written quotation.
When planning, we will take into account the overall height and available space, and will discuss the various layout options with you.
Although the layout of a staircase is often limited by the space available, shown here are various layout options together with the common terminology used to describe them.
Staircases can be purely functional or they can double up as decorative devices, especially when used as the central feature of an entrance hall or lobby.
Legislation and regulations govern the manufacture and position of stairs within a building according to its function.
This makes it vitally important to engage specialist staircase manufacturers at an early stage.
If your existing stairs are sound but unfashionable, we can transform their looks by adding or replacing parts.
A popular choice is to change old-style ranch rails with turned newels and spindles, for example.
