Ash is popular not only for its looks, but also for its ease of working and incredible strength.
Oak is hard and pale in colour, but darkens to a rich brown with age and polishing, it has very attractive grain markings.
A strong, extremely durable, heavy timber it finishes well and resists moisture absorption.
Pippy Oak is a term used to describe the instance of small, tight clusters of knots, which appear sporadically in the growth of the tree.
