The Sash Window
We are The Sash Window Company; and we design and manufacture bespoke timber sash windows, and doors to help retain the architectural character and integrity of your home, incorporating sound and draught proofing. Our team of professional carpenters will respect your home and keep it clean and tidy whilst the work is being carried out. All our windows are manufactured in our Joinery workshop using either a hardwood of your choice or generally from an FSC approved Scandinavian redwood from sustainable sources.
Services
Our team of highly trained carpenters and joiners work to provide you with expertly made, thermally efficient windows and doors.
We provide a complete Sash Window solution including design, manufacturing and installation.
All our windows are made to order in our South London Factory.
This allows The Sash Window Company to provide a dedicated level of service unusual in the field as well as quick turnaround times.
As someone with a strong respect for the natural world, Henry has always had an interest in carpentry and woodwork.
Sash windows are usually opened by sliding the top and bottom sashes vertically.
The casement window (or casement) is a window that is attached to its frame by two or more hinges.
Made to the highest standards we can manufacture new flush double or single glazed casement windows to any specification in softwood or hardwood.
These windows are used singly or in pairs within a common frame, in which case they are hinged on the outside.
Working on old windows can be a messy business.
When the old windows are taken out, it is important to consider that the wind may blow things over!
In order to work on the window these sashes have to be removed, to do this the staff bead and the part bead are removed, these are the parts that hold the window in.
Very often the joints on the sashes may have become loose if this is the case we tighten them up either by glue and screw or by use of wooden wedges.
Often there may be a minor cracks in the corner of the glass that has been there for years - we do not replace the glass.
When we started considering getting new windows fitted to our London townhouse we spent a long time researching what kind of sash windows we wanted and spoke with several people.
We decided to go with the Sash Window Company, not only because they understood our requirements perfectly but because their customer service was impeccable.
From the first call we made to them to the initial site visit it was professional but friendly and we were kept well informed at all times and who would be visiting us.
