Welcome to Mister Micawber Cottage Door Makers of period style cupboard doors in the traditional manner.
All our cupboard doors are made from real wood and have "floating" panels from the traditional farmhouse style right up to the modern shaker style of today.
Mister Micawber have been trading from Prenton, Wirrel since the end of the Eighties, selling vintage and antique furniture and making free standing pine kitchen furniture to order, together with suitable accessories, however the cupboard doors have now moved to the Nantwich area.

The Shaker style cupboard door is made from a frame of Grade A pine, nominally 70mm wide and 20 mm thick.
The frame has scribe joints, and when glued and cramped up, the joint has greater strength than the wood itself.
The inner part of the frame has straight simple lines.
The inner part if the frame has a 6mm groove to accept a flat panel.
The panel is made from individual lengths of pine 12mm thick and 150mm wide glued together rebated at the back to slot inside the panel frame.
The panels are cut to size so that they are a good fit and because of the rebating, they combine with the frame to add extra strength the the door.

The specifications for the raised and fielded wardrobe door are as for all doors over 1.2m high.
They have a frame 70mm wide and 28mm thick with 19mm thick panels with a simple stylish profile to the panels.
All doors over 1.2m high have a recommended horizontal bar to the doors, which give added stability and create a two panel door as seen in the photograph on the right.
Our suggestion is a proportion of one third over two thirds, however you are free to choose whereabouts you have the stabilising bar, half way down, or one quarter, the choice is yours.

When you plan a kitchen makeover, you will also require replacement drawer fronts in matching styles to the cupboard doors.
The maximum size door we make is normally 1800mm high.
We recommend that doors larger than 1000mm high are made in a 27mm thick frame as this reduces significantly the possibility of "warp".
